The Class of 2025's time in high school is just about wrapped up, with the rest of their lives ahead of them. It is a bittersweet time for myself personally, as this class was the class I started with. When I first started to write sports for the Commonwealth Journal, the seniors that are now fixing to (or already have) walk across that stage to receive their diplomas were all just little freshmen, not knowing how their scholastic or athletic journeys may go. In a way I was the same, not knowing where this new career would take me. I had a feeling their journeys would be wonderful, but I didn't know just how impactful it would be.
This wonderful group has had so many fantastic accomplishments. Not only team-wise with multiple regional titles, but personally as well. I've seen players set school records, such as Tori Robertson setting the all-time goal scoring mark at Somerset High School, and with her dad as the head coach no less. I've seen just this year a team make a remarkable run to the state soccer tournament, shout out to Somerset boys' soccer for that. I've seen others playing under a parent and spending those fleeting moments out on the court, looking at you Kinsley Molden. I even have had worked with one at the newspaper, shout out to you Jayce Gager. My favorite times at sporting events over the past four years haven't been the games themselves, it's been getting to know you all and your families. It's been telling the stories not only on the court but off of it. I truly don't feel I'd be in the position I am in today if it were not this class and all they achieved, making each story truly feel important for you all and giving you memories that will truly last for a lifetime.
Here we stand at the edge of tomorrow for all of you. That may look different for each one of you, with some off to become the leaders of tomorrow, some off to pursue the next level of their athletic careers. I know that wherever life may take you, you will be successful because of your passion and hearts. Wherever this wild road called life does end up taking you, you will always have a fan and a friend in me. As the great Mr. Feeny said at the end of Boy Meets World, "Believe in yourselves. Dream. Try. Do Good." I am so eternally grateful to the Class of 2025, you all are truly the real MVP's.
